New Years Update - Part 1

This is part 1 of the New Years Update. After so long without Spec DM, I missed it - so it's now being revived under the name "Spec RP".
Spec RP will require quite a bit of testing/fixing/changes to get working 100% correct, so before the new years quest we are going to get this working semi-solid.
After that, the new years quest will be based on Spec RP elements :)

  • SpecDM is back under the name "Spec RP". Many, many improvements over the old SpecDM:
  • Third person (world) weapon models now work correctly
  • Animations now work correctly
  • Spawnable objects now have physics with Spectators only. Back in the day, they were just no-collided with everything
  • Cades can now be set as "Spec RP only", meaning you can only spawn them in Spec RP. Weed growing can only take place in Spec RP now
  • An inventory/multi-slot equip system has been added. This will be improved and changed in the future, for now it is quite buggy
  • You can now go into Spec RP pre-round, post-round, or anytime. It's not limited to when the round is ongoing
  • You can now stay in Spec RP and never play the real game by turning "Spectate-only mode" on
  • All non-spectator related objects will be invisible when in Spec RP (props included - any entity basically)
  • Jumping is limited in a different way and that old alias-bind to bypass it won't work anymore. umad?
  • Alive players will no longer hear fall damage sounds from Spec RP'ers
  • Use the secondary attack of your rock to pick objects up
  • Your old SpecDM weapons are not implemented yet. I have plans for how this will work out, but for now you must fight eachother with rocks!

Spec RP will have tons of bugs! These will be fixed over time, just like the old Spec DM

Note: 2D World will be getting removed in a couple days. Make sure to sell your items and transfer your coins to DevBucks!
You can still type "!dm" in the chat to open 2D World for now.

So In specRP, specDM weapons return, weed is only allowed to be grown so no more *RESPAWN ME FOR WEED PLS*, and can be played anytime.


First update of the new year and the best one possibly, great job Jackool.









And no matter what you say, this update was late.  :smugdog:

Update to Spec RP

  • Trees and rocks will now spawn on maps with spawn points for them (will be adding these over time)
  • You can no longer buy money printers - you have to craft them with resources on the map. Printers no longer explode though.
  • Your inventory will save on a per-map basis
  • When you die, your loot will drop on the ground
  • The spec RP entities (like printers) will now save when the map changes and comes back (persistence). This is experimental, and decay (like in rust) may need to be added
    The plan here is to eventually have base building, like in Rust. You can build a base, and your printers will keep on printing even when you are offline.
    Right now, objects will "expire" and delete after 48 hours (hopefully; blame early access!!!)
  • Dropping items (like seeds) with the rock's secondary fire now works better
  • Added working clientside ragdolls to player death - delayed respawn time so you can tell what happened
  • Your inventory now resets correctly after death
  • You no longer spawn with the torch (have to craft it; just so that there aren't a million torches all over the map)
  • Fixed various other bugs (callouts, other crap)

I like the idea of this, but don't spend an excessive amount of time on it since it's not as important as the actual TTT aspect.
